Memories from our Overlook house
Thanks to Facebook for the memory. But I had restricted the YouTube subsequently after sharing it on FB. I just made my YouTube video public again.
2008 July2. Vallejo, CA. Their mommy shot the video. Since we had our first kid, Nica, I always encouraged her to shoot photos/videos while I was still at work. (We didn't have to pay for Costco photo processing anymore. LOL). Per the filename 20080702161804, it was 4:18 PM so I was still at work in Fairfield. I love how Jian leaves the Rockband session by running away when he sees the food his mommy had cooked, and says, "Ooh lumpia!" LOL!
We never worried about Jian and Chesca eating -- only their Ate Nica.
When Nica was a small toddler, she had always shown natural musical gifts. Nica even made up her own songs. I got her first toy keyboard (a red one) when she was two years old I believe. I encouraged her to perform, and always had her sing karaoke at our parties. She had Jessa Zaragoza's two hit songs down.
Nica graduated from Sacramento State University with a Health Science degree, then a nursing degree from Samuel Merritt University. You may be thinking of the Jokoy joke about Filipinas becoming nurses and having their dreams shattered.
I was the opposite. I had suggested to Nica that she minor in Music at Sac State and encouraged her to create a YouTube channel. Not only can Nica sing and dance, she can do various accents.
Nica and Jian were heavily involved in judo tournaments at that time. I had envisioned Nica being a Filipina "Cynthia Rothrock" who could sing. Cynthia Rothrock is a renowned American martial artist and actress, celebrated for her dynamic roles in martial arts films during the 1980s and 1990s. I watched a lot of her action movies in high school. So I had Hollywood aspirations for Nica.
I had envisioned Nica as my singing, fighting nurse! It's not too late, ate. LOL.
Remembering Maria Theresa Garcia Perseveranda. Atet, we love you. Mahal kita.
