Happy Birthday Diana! My Tita Gigi 🎂😘

I love you Tita Gigi!

December 25, 2024. Antioch, CA. Diana's family nickname is "Baby." It's the typical nickname for a Filipina girl in the Philippines. From what my Dad told me, when I tried to say "Baby" when I was starting to speak, it came out as Gigi. So I gave her the palayaw (nickname) of Gigi, and every cousin from my sister on down calls her Tita Gigi.

I remember she was the one who always got my birthday cake. I asked her what her favorite cake was on Christmas night. Typical of her, she said didn't have one. But I'll get you your cake today, Tita Gigi!

As I texted a friend recently, my holy trinity growing up were: my mom, my Lola Rose and Tita Gigi. They were the three who made me feel extra special since I can remember.
