Happy Birthday Diana! My Tita Gigi 🎂😘

Image
I love you Tita Gigi! December 25, 2024. Antioch, CA. Diana's family nickname is " Baby ." It's the typical nickname for a Filipina girl in the Philippines. From what my Dad told me, when I tried to say "Baby" when I was starting to speak, it came out as Gigi . So I gave her the palayaw (nickname) of Gigi, and every cousin from my sister on down calls her Tita Gigi. I remember she was the one who always got my birthday cake. I asked her what her favorite cake was on Christmas night. Typical of her, she said didn't have one. But I'll get you your cake today, Tita Gigi! As I texted a friend recently, my holy trinity growing up were: my mom, my Lola Rose and Tita Gigi. They were the three who made me feel extra special since I can remember. Life of a Filipino Diabetic December 25, 2024. Antioch, CA. After Chesca and I picked up my parents and we had driven to Antioch, I checked my blood sugar right away. I felt it had dropped. I had not eaten all day, saving my BS for Christmas dinner. 79! All systems go. Maligayang Pasko! Merry Perseveranda Christmas! A Very Merry Christmas, Mom & Dad

Image
Maligayang Pasko! Merry Perseveranda Christmas! December 25, 2024. Antioch, CA. My Sagittarius parents. December has always been extra special in our household: Both my parents were born in December: 12/2 & 12/18; Their wedding anniversary is December 23; Our Perseveranda clan always gathered in our parents' house for the Christmas party. It transitioned to my house, then my sister's house. Then came my dad's ate's birthday on December 27. Finally, there was the New Year's Eve party on December 31. So we didn't only receive gifts -- we gained extra POUNDS. LOL. Thank you for making the trip to Antioch, Mom & Dad. It wouldn't have been the same without you. Thanks Vince & Dino for bringing them home. White Elephant Gift Exchange - Christmas 2024

Ukrainians ditch Russian traditions and celebrate Christmas with the West

Image
I've always wanted to attend an Eastern Orthodox mass. Christmas in Ukraine traditionally begins on the 7th January, as it does in Russia. But this year, many have chosen to celebrate with the West instead. There are different hypotheses regarding the date of Jesus' birth and in the early fourth century, the church fixed the date as December 25. [b] [13] [14] [15]  This corresponds to the traditional date of the  winter solstice  on the Roman calendar. [16]  It is exactly nine months after  Annunciation  on March 25, also the date of the spring equinox. [17]  Most Christians celebrate on December 25 in the  Gregorian calendar , which has been adopted almost universally in the  civil calendars  used in countries throughout the world. However, part of the  Eastern Christian Churches  celebrate Christmas on December 25 of the older  Julian calendar , which currently corresponds to January 7 in the Gregorian calendar. For C...
