USS Theodore Roosevelt sailor with COVID-19 has died per @USNavy. First death aboard the U.S. aircraft carrier 🙏🏽

A U.S. Navy sailor died after contracting COVID-19, marking the first death aboard the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt, which came into the spotlight after the ship's commander, Captain Brett Crozier, penned a four-page letter pleading for stronger measures to protect the crew.The letter embarrassed the Navy and Crozier was replaced.

US Navy Chief of Naval Operations: "We mourn the loss of the Sailor from USS Theodore Roosevelt who died today, and we stand alongside their family, loved ones, and shipmates as they grieve. This is a great loss for the ship and for our Navy."



Capt. Brett E. Crozier wrote March 31: "We are not at war. Sailors do not need to die. If we do not act now, we are failing to properly take care of our most trusted asset – our sailors."
