PinoyBuilt Performance Update: Finding the Secret Sauce

Site performance is soaring, new contributors are arriving, and the PinoyBuilt vision is finally coming home.

PinoyBuilt community — Filipino and Filipina Americans in California, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Hawaii, 2011
PinoyBuilt community — Fil-Am friends & family across CA, LA, SF & Hawaiʻi, 2011

Our site PinoyBuilt has been outperforming itself. Yesterday's AdSense earnings spiked over 500% compared to the same day last week. Our "Last 7 Days" metrics are also up over 500% versus the previous 7 days, and "This month" is already +351% versus the same period last year. I may have found the "secret sauce."

Thank you to every visitor and reader of this site. Maraming salamat po! Please continue to come back and support. Thank you, Irene, for your comment — hopefully, the rest of the gang joins in soon.

💡 Did You Know?

There are an estimated 4.2 million Filipino Americans in the United States, making them the third-largest Asian-American group in the country. California alone is home to more than 1.6 million — with the Bay Area, including Vallejo and Daly City, as historic anchors of the community.

🇵🇭 Tagalog Word of the Day

Pamana (pa-ma-nà)

noun — Heritage, legacy, or inheritance; something handed down from ancestors or past generations.

"PinoyBuilt is our digital pamana for the next generation of Fil-Ams."

Site Updates and a New Contributor

I've updated the site. Check out the refreshed About, Contributors, and Contact pages. I've also created a new link to easily access the last 10 recent comments.

I created a new user for PinoyBuilt.com: Clarence. He's been added to Contributors — be sure to read his latest post on the American Canyon rally. Atty. Clarence Mamaril is the managing immigration attorney for Catholic Charities Yolo-Solano, a St. Patrick's High alumnus, and a dedicated 707 community voice.

"If I ever get as rich from PinoyBuilt.com as Mark Zuckerberg has from Facebook, I will not buy up all of Kauai. I will take you and your partner (family) on a world cruise!"
— J.F.R. Perseveranda

The Vision, Finally Realized

Melvin, Ress, and I met at my house in January 2003, and I shared my vision of what this site would become. But Facebook exploded on the scene shortly after, and the three of us got too busy with life. Yet here we are — and this is exactly what I envisioned.

Lastly, I migrated my post from Facebook on 3/13/20 to here: The Last Handshake. I'm back to what I was doing at PG&E at the start — data migration. Happy Friday everyone!

Why Contribute to PinoyBuilt?

PinoyBuilt is more than a blog — it's our digital pamana. Filipino-American stories and heritage are too important to be left to social media algorithms. By contributing, you own your legacy on a platform we control, join a growing community of Fil-Am voices, and help the next generation navigate their identity with Pinoy Pride.

💡 Did You Know? — Vallejo & the Fil-Am Community

Vallejo, California has one of the highest concentrations of Filipino Americans in the United States. Filipinos make up an estimated 25–30% of Vallejo's population, reflecting a deep diaspora history tied to the U.S. Navy's presence at Mare Island Naval Shipyard — a connection that brought thousands of Filipino immigrants and their families to the 707 over many decades.

Author & Photographer: J.F.R. Perseveranda

J.F. (Jonjo) left the Philippines at age nine, spending a lifetime bridging the gap between his Marikina roots and his Chicago/Vallejo upbringing. A proud Hogan Spartan from East Vallejo and resident of LA/SF, he founded PinoyBuilt not just as a digital archive, but as a cultural compass for his three children to navigate their heritage, language, and identity with Pinoy Pride.
