Philippine International Motor Show: PIMS, my ride

Car shows cater to a wide range of people. They exhibit vehicles (with 2, 4, 6 and more wheels), parts, accessories, provide information, test drives and entertainment to the public.  I went to the 6th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) at the World Trade Center, Manila and had a blast looking at the different vehicle models (and the models, too)!

     


One particular vehicle that piqued my interest is a 1974Beetle 1303 S (named Sabel sa Beetle) owned by internationally-acclaimed glass sculptor Ramon Orlina.  What’s so special about this car isn’t found under the hood. Outside is an artwork by National Artist BenCab while inside is a glass sculpture made by the owner himself!  How do you put a value on an item like this?

Benedicto Reyes Cabrera, better known as "BenCab", is a Filipino painter and was awarded National Artist of the Philippines for Visual Arts (Painting) in 2006. He has been noted as "arguably the best-selling painter of his generation of Filipino artists."
