Vancouver police arrest lone suspect after vehicle drives into Filipino festival crowd

Police said on Sunday (April 27) they were investigating a mass casualty incident and had arrested a 30-year-old man at the scene after a number of people were killed and multiple others were injured in Vancouver when a vehicle drove into a crowd at a Filipino street festival Saturday evening. At a midnight press conference, police said that the suspect was "known" to them but did not elaborate. The man was initially taken into custody by people at the scene. The incident happened shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday evening (0300 GMT Sunday) near East 41st Avenue and Fraser Street, where the Lapu Lapu Day Block Party, celebrating a Philippine national hero, was taking place. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said on X: "I am devastated to hear about the horrific events at the Lapu Lapu festival in Vancouver earlier this evening." Plus, I need the view counts for the minimum requirements to start earning on YouTube. I've got the required 500 subscribers (506 as of today) but I only have 462  valid public watch hours in the last 365 days. I need 3000 public watch hours. I've got the NBA Playoffs on on the boob tube, but I'm not really paying attention. My Fortress of Solitude, the Library

I fell in love with the term "Fortress of Solitude" when I read it in Superman comics as a kid in Marikina. The Fortress of Solitude is a fictional fortress appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly in association with Superman. It is the place where Superman first learned about his true identity , heritage , and purpose on Earth. The fortress functions as a place of solace/occasional headquarters for Superman and is typically depicted as being in frozen tundra, away from civilization.
