Flashback: Happy Birthday Auntie Dory & Joy Family is forever.  Today’s flashback takes us to (I'm guessing) the first Saturday after Auntie Dory & Joy's shared July 31 birthday - August 3, 1996, 190 Toni Ct. Emirates Airlines do have the most beautiful flight attendants. She was the prettiest on my flight. Too bad she was on the other side. This was 5:02 PM Dubai time, a couple hours from landing at DXB.  

 

Flashback: August 22, 2018 Nica graduated from Benicia High School in June. Papa Ronnie wanted to treat Ronick, Dino & Nica before they went off to Cal Poly , Yale & Sac State respectively. Tess and I got to tag along.   RIP Tess Perseveranda: August 16, 1972 - December 29, 2020

Flashback: Riding the ferry into Seattle, Washington w Tony, Missy and AJ. August 1997. I thought we took the trip in 1998, but Missy said she recalls that we watched the news broadcast of Princess Diana's death when we were in Seattle. Princess Di died on August 31, 1997. We went to Bumbershoot, held from Friday August 29 to Monday September 1, 1997. Bumbershoot  is an annual international music and arts  festival  held in  Seattle ,  Washington . One of North America's largest such festivals, [1]  it takes place every  Labor Day  weekend (leading up to and including the first Monday of September) at the 74-acre (299,000 m 2 )  Seattle Center , which was built for the  1962 World's Fair . Seattle Center includes both indoor theaters and outdoor stages.  

Georgetown legends: Coach John Thompson & Patrick Ewing. Rest In Peace Coach Thompson Back when I knew everything about basketball (high school of course), Coach Thompson and his Georgetown Hoyas were all over ESPN . In the beginning of the 1981 NCAA Basketball season, James Worthy became my favorite player.  His jump hook became my go-to move throughout my playing days.  Coach Dean Smith became my favorite coach and the North Carolina Tar Heels became my team.  When a freshman Michael Jordan hit the game winning basket in the NCAA Championship Game at the end of that season's March Madness , I bled Tar Heel blue. Missing you as always.  Missing you too Edgar Allan.  Fantasy football is just not the same without you. Is that Dino that I'm holding?  My nephew is now in Yale University in his senior year.  Time flies... Leonardo Jr. (Jun) and Edgar Allan are my second cousins on my mom's side.  I grew up with them when my family lived in Chicago until 1979. I moved back to Chicago in April 1989.  Jun, Allan and I watched and yelled in their basement when Michael Jordan hit The Shot  versus Craig Ehlo, and the Chicago Bulls beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.  Thanks to Wikipedia, I now know it was May 7, 1989. Nica at tennis practice at start of sophomore year Veronica was on the 2014-2015 Junior Varsity team.  The BHS Lady Panthers Tennis Team was SCAC Champions, as well as Sac-Joaquin Section Division 2 Champions!
