Filipino-American Milestones: Chesca Celebrating Emmy’s 10th Birthday in Vallejo
Celebrating Emmy's 10th Birthday in Vallejo
A milestone celebration in Vallejo as Chesca and the family gather to honor Emmy's 10th birthday with Filipino traditions and community spirit.
In the heart of Vallejo, our family gathered to celebrate a major milestone: Emmy’s 10th birthday. It was a day filled with the warmth of community and the enduring strength of our Filipino roots.
Vallejo has historically been a central hub for the Filipino diaspora in Northern California, influenced largely by the presence of the Mare Island Naval Shipyard.
(han-DA-an) • Meaning: A feast or celebration involving food, typically held for birthdays and town fiestas.
As a photographer, capturing these moments through my Sony a7III with the 85mm f/1.8 lens allowed me to isolate the joy on Emmy's face against a beautiful bokeh background. Watching Chesca lead the festivities reminded us all of the importance of family bonds.
The party was a vibrant display of our heritage. From the laughter shared among cousins to the stories told by the titas, every detail pointed back to our shared heritage; even in the changing landscape of Vallejo, these bonds remain our constant north star.
