Watching Alex Eala under the lights at Indian Wells brings back memories of the Hogan High Spartans. I just caught up with my old championship teammates, Martin (our #1 player) and Rudy, at a recent reunion in Stockton. Standing with the guys who helped us win back-to-back MEL titles, I’m reminded of the same championship grit Eala is showing the world today.

Following her historic victory over Coco Gauff, Eala has officially hit a new career-high of No. 28. Below, watch her sit down with the media to discuss her mindset heading into tonight’s prime-time battle.
