Chapman University Kapamilya @cukapamilya 📷 Friendship Games Flashback

Whether you're a first-generation immigrant who journeyed here from the Philippines, a second-generation Filipino-American born and raised in the U.S., or like me—a 1.5-generation Filipino—you belong here.

Salamat, Chapman University Kapamilya (@cukapamilya)—thank you for following @Pinoybuilt on Instagram and for reaching out about that photo! It made our day to hear from you.

Every message like yours reminds us why Pinoybuilt exists: to connect Filipinos and Filipino-Americans across generations, schools, and states—to celebrate our shared stories, culture, and resilience. From the Bay Area to Southern California, from Navy towns like Vallejo to student orgs like yours in Orange County, our goal is the same: to build something Filipino together.

Per your request on IG. I used a cropped 9x16 for my Instagram story; here's the full photo. I still have videos and photos to edit/phost. I will post as time allows. Please read below.

🎓 A Shout-Out to Chapman University Kapamilya

Founded with the spirit of “kapamilya” (family), your organization embodies what it means to be Filipino on campus—balancing heritage and identity, laughter and leadership, food and friendship. Whether you’re hosting Halo-Halo Nights, cultural showcases, or late-night bonding sessions before midterms, your presence matters. You make Filipino culture visible, joyful, and proud at Chapman University.

As a platform that uplifts Fil-Am voices, we’d love to extend an invitation to you—and your members—to join us not just as readers or followers, but as creators and contributors.

📝 Join Pinoybuilt as a Blogger or Contributor

Pinoybuilt is more than a blog—it’s a growing community archive of Filipino-American life. We’re now opening up space for student leaders, writers, photographers, and social media storytellers to share their voices on our sites. Here’s how your members can get involved:

  • Become a blogger or content contributor for Pinoybuilt.com or our regional site la.pinoybuilt.com.
  • Share your org’s events, reflections, and creative work—from culture nights to community outreach to personal stories of identity and belonging.
  • Cross-post content from your organization’s Instagram to our Los Angeles Facebook Page: Filipino in Los Angeles.
  • Be featured on our platforms so other Fil-Am students and alumni can discover your work and your campus community.

🌟 Also: Join Our College Intern Program

If you have students who want to gain hands-on experience in media, writing, or digital storytelling, we’re currently welcoming interns! Learn more here: Join the PinoyBuilt Team: College Interns Wanted!

It’s a great opportunity for Fil-Am students to explore content creation, community journalism, and social media management while uplifting our shared heritage. Interns can contribute remotely and collaborate with others nationwide.

We’re especially interested in giving SoCal Fil-Am orgs like Chapman Kapamilya a voice on la.pinoybuilt.com, which has been quiet lately but deserves to shine again. Imagine a student-run digital space that reflects your campus life, your advocacy, your art—and connects you to other Fil-Am clubs across California.

🤝 Be a Moderator or Campus Partner

We’d also love to invite your club—or one or two of your officers—to become page moderators for Filipino in Los Angeles. As moderators, you’ll help highlight events, promote Filipino causes, and grow our shared Fil-Am presence online.

This collaboration isn’t just about social media—it’s about representation. Filipino-Americans are among the largest Asian-American groups in California, yet our stories are often under-told. By joining forces, we can build a stronger narrative of who we are—students, families, dreamers, nurses, creatives, leaders, and friends.

💬 A Message to All SoCal Fil-Am Students

If you’re reading this from another university—UCI, CSULB, Cal State Fullerton, UCLA, LMU, or anywhere in SoCal—this invitation extends to you, too. Reach out. Let’s collaborate. Your club’s name, your photos, and your stories deserve to be part of this digital tapestry we’re weaving for future generations of Filipino-Americans.

Together, we can turn “likes” into legacy. And it starts with a simple message—just like the one we received from Chapman Kapamilya.

🌏 Let’s Build Something Filipino Together

Pinoybuilt began as a simple project to document the Filipino experience—photos, quotes, memories, songs—but it’s grown into a platform for unity and pride. We believe in community storytelling—from our parents’ journeys to our students’ voices, from the barbershops in Vallejo to the classrooms in Orange County.

To the members of Chapman University Kapamilya—maraming salamat. You remind us what “kapamilya” truly means: not just family by blood, but by heart, purpose, and pride.

Let’s grow this movement together. 🌺
