A great night at Lucca Beer Garden as Hogan Spartans from the Class of '84 gather in Benicia — and Jean Jandoc makes it one to remember.

Some friendships are forged in hallways, on courts, and in classrooms — and four decades later, they still hold. On July 20, 2024, a handful of Hogan High School Class of 1984 alumni gathered at Lucca Beer Garden in Benicia, CA for one of those rare, unhurried evenings where time seems to collapse. No agenda. Just Spartans.

The night featured a warm send-off snapshot: JF Perseveranda, Ariel Eugenio, Belinda Berdan, Jean Jandoc, and Ike Berenguer — shot just before Ariel, Belinda, and Jean had to head out. Great venue. Even better company.

Forty Years of Spartan Pride

The Class of 1984 graduated from Hogan High School at a time when Vallejo's Filipino-American community was coming into its own — a generation that grew up straddling two worlds, raised on Filipino values at home and shaped by East Bay culture in the streets, gyms, and classrooms of Vallejo. Forty years on, that identity hasn't faded. If anything, it's deepened.

Lucca Beer Garden, a favorite NorCal gathering spot along the Benicia waterfront corridor, provided the perfect backdrop — relaxed, unpretentious, and built for real conversation. The kind of place where you can pick up a story right where you left it, decades ago.
