Schwarzenegger: Trump 'worst president ever'

Image
Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger compared the mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol to the Nazis and called President Donald Trump a failed leader who "will go down in history as the worst president ever." The Republican said in a video he released on social media on Sunday that "Wednesday was the Night of Broken Glass right here in the United States." In 1938, Nazis in Germany and Austria vandalized Jewish homes, schools and businesses during an attack that became known as "the Night of Broken Glass." "The broken glass was in the windows of the United States Capitol. But the mob did not just shatter the windows of the Capitol, they shattered the ideas we took for granted," he said. "They trampled the very principles on which our country was founded," he said. Schwarzenegger, who was born in Austria, compared the Proud Boys — a far-right American extremist group — to the Nazis. Some Proud Boys leaders were arrested in the n...

Lindsey Graham's Hypocrisy: A 5-Act Tragedy

Image
South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham used to be dismissive of Donald Trump—like other Republicans who thought Candidate Trump was a flash in the pan, an aberration to be laughed off or ridiculed. In 2015, Graham appeared on the channel he’s called “fake news,” CNN . “There’s only one way to make America great again,” he said. “Tell Donald Trump to go to hell.” As Trump’s violent mob descended onto the Capitol on January 6 , many of Trump’s chief enablers have tried to gaslight their way into back into America’s good graces—including Graham. After Biden’s convincing win in November, 2020, Graham was a strident supporter of Trump’s big lie that there was widespread fraud, and became an outspoken attack dog for the president on cable television. “President Trump should not concede,” Graham said in November, before deploying full-blown “push back” and “fight” rhetoric leading up to the insurrection. But after the violent siege last week, Graham apparently saw the light: “ Joe Biden an...

Trump’s Life About to Become "A Burning Hell"

Image
As rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan's efforts to send in state police and the National Guard were blocked by the federal government for a full 90 minutes. Now, Hogan – a Republican – is calling for President Trump to resign or be removed from office. Joining these calls is the Lincoln Project, the anti-Trump Republican group formed in 2019. Its co-founder Rick Wilson calls the violence “sedition and insurrection,” and speaks with Hari Sreenivasan about what’s at stake. The Lincoln Project is an American political action committee formed in late 2019 by a number of Republicans and former Republicans. During the 2020 presidential election, it aimed to prevent the re-election of Donald Trump and defeat all Republicans in close races running for re-election in the United States Senate. Maryland governor was denied permission to send National Guard & State Police, despite requests from DC mayor & congressional leaders (needed b/c...
