Taking the Vallejo Ferry to San Francisco with Ronnie & Manny

Image
Orange October! Took the ferry with my Dad and Tito Maning to attend the San Francisco Giants' Championship Parade on a wet Halloween. I'll upload the rest of the video.  Everything took up 41+ minutes. I'll see about breaking it up.

Filipinos among hostages taken by Hamas - Community leader

Image
Fighting between Hamas and Israel rages into a second day with more than 600 people killed in Israel while over 400 Palestinians have died. This major escalation between the two sides began after Hamas breached the border from Gaza in an unprecedented and surprise attack. Aside from retaliatory strikes, Hamas has reportedly taken dozens of people hostage including Filipinos. Joining us now from Tel Aviv, Israel is the Philippine Embassy Consul General and Deputy Chief of Mission Anthony Mandap. When war comes on anywhere in the world, I always remember "IMAGINE" by John Lennon. Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion, too Imagine all the people Livin' life in peace

Good Morning Don Julio!

Image
Getting reacquainted with old friends I haven't seen in a long while! 😆 A bottle of Don Julio tequila. Tequila  ( / t ɛ ˈ k iː l ə / ;  Spanish:  [teˈkila]   ( listen ) ) is a  distilled beverage  made from the  blue agave  plant, primarily in the area surrounding the city of  Tequila  65 km (40 mi) northwest of  Guadalajara , and in the Jaliscan Highlands ( Los Altos de Jalisco ) of the central western Mexican state of  Jalisco .

We all want to love & be loved unconditionally.

Watch: Imagine Here's a Facebook Memory from October 9, 2015: So I'm waiting in the lobby of Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo. A man sits across from me and says, "You have two cellphones." I nod my head. He adds, "They don't have much technology in India." Dude must think I'm Indian. I said, "Sure they do." He continues, "India is very filthy. Mexico is filthy too." I guess he's not sure what ethnicity I am. I try to shift the conversation since I know the guy will keep talking even if I ignore him. Me: Do you like baseball? Him: Yeah! Me: I'm from Chicago so I'm rooting for the Cubs. Him: In the ALDS? Me: N LDS Him: N is my least favorite letter in the alphabet. (This must be my lucky day). Me: Why is that? (Giving him the benefit of the doubt) Him: Isn't it obvious? There's a word that starts with N. Me: Night? Him: You know Jay Z ? He calls himself Jigga Man . He found a way. Me: (I ignore the guy, b...

Celebrating the Contributions of Filipinos in Hawaii

Image
October is Filipino American (FilAm) History Month. FilAm History Month honors the history, heritage, pursuits, positive contributions, and legacies of Filipinos in the United States. To welcome FilAm History Month and in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Philippines-US diplomatic relations, the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu is pleased to share with you a video presentation which highlights the rich history of Filipinos in Hawaii, as well as their positive contributions to the State and how the Consulate has stood witness to the growth and growing influence of Filipinos and Filipino Americans in Hawaii.

As CA's first #FilAm Attorney General, I'm proud to celebrate the vast contributions of the Filipino American community to our nation & state. Hello October!

Image
The only constant thing in life is change.

October is Filipino American History Month

Image
Happy Filipino American History Month! Happy #FilipinoAmericanHISTORYMonth ! Our theme this year is “50 Years Since the First Young Filipino Peoples’ Far West Convention”. The Far West Conventions are viewed by many as the start of the Filipino American Movement and the birth of Filipino American identity. #FAHM2021 pic.twitter.com/GecIlurbyx — FANHS National (@fanhs_national) October 1, 2021   October is Filipino American HISTORY Month, NOT Filipino American Heritage Month. The distinction is important! Created by @fanhs_national in 1991, #FAHM was always intended to be HISTORY Month. Hogan High School Class of 1985 First Reunion

Image
Hosted a reunion at my parent's house in October 1985 Hogan Class of 1985: Mini Reunion I hosted a high school reunion at my parents' house in October 1985 .  This should've been a Saturday.  Since Sheila Tabilon is missing, I'm guessing this was October 12, 1985.  Sheila must have been out celebrating her 18th birthday with her family; her bday is 10/10. Arnel and Debbie were visiting from Washington state (since he had been stationed there after joining the Air Force ) so I thought, why not have a gathering?  We had just graduated four months earlier on June 19, 1985.  So technically, we hadn't hit one year yet.  Call it 0.5 reunion . I'm not sure if this was early in the party, or late.  But missing from the photo are Glenn Pingol and Lorina Dollaga .  Don't worry-- I'll upload more pix! I asked the guys to wear ties and the girls to wear a dress to give more formal touch.  In the photo: Back row: Arnel Pacanza, Jim Abad, ...
