Happy Birthday Helen Baluyut Garcia!

Image
Happy Birthday, Mama Helen & Tess ❤️🎂 Today, August 16, is a day filled with both joy and bittersweet memories for our family. It’s the shared birthday of my beloved mother-in-law Mama Helen in the Philippines, and her youngest daughter, my late wife Tess . Fate has a funny way of working. Long before I even met Tess, I had already planned a week-long vacation for the week of August 16. Then, on May 16 of that same year, Tess came into my life. Lo and behold — it was a perfect match. That week, which I had set aside for rest and fun, would soon become one of the most meaningful times of my life, forever tied to celebrating two incredible women. This year, we remember them through a flashback photo from August 1999 in Chino Hills, California. It was taken right after we returned from a weekend in Las Vegas to celebrate their special day. The smiles in that photo say it all — love, laughter, and family togetherness that distance and time can never erase. August ...

August Birthday Party in Vallejo

Image
Flashback: Happy Birthday Auntie Dory & Joy Family is forever.  Today’s flashback takes us to (I'm guessing) the first Saturday after Auntie Dory & Joy's shared July 31 birthday - August 3, 1996, 190 Toni Ct. Vallejo, CA.  It's the first house my parents bought in the USA.  I use  timeanddate.com  by the way to look up dates & days. Reyes sisters reunion: Dory, Nati, Rachel, Manye & Joy If memory serves, Auntie Dory & family always drove up from San Jose for an annual shared celebration with my sister so that my mom and her sisters could spend time. This flashback is a reminder that no matter how much time passes, the moments we share with loved ones are priceless. Whether it’s a holiday, a family vacation, or just an ordinary day that became extraordinary — they all deserve to be remembered. 💬 Your Turn! Do you have a favorite family flashback? Outside Lands 2004

Image
Flashback: August 7, 2004 Family is forever. Every now and then, it’s nice to open the old photo albums (or scroll through our hard drives -- and back them up before you drop them!) and relive moments that shaped who we are. Today’s flashback takes us to Outside Lands 2004  — when that meant Mama & Papa's front lawn (with the new added bonus of a water slide I bought). Jian and Keo attended Outside Lands Day 1 in Golden Gate Park yesterday, so I'm just playing off that. They've got two more days with their Benicia buddies. Enjoy. Jian, Nica, Keo & Kuya R Tita Gigi was in town to help care for Baby Chesca. This flashback is a reminder that no matter how much time passes, the moments we share with loved ones are priceless. Whether it’s a holiday, a family vacation, or just an ordinary day that became extraordinary — they all deserve to be remembered. 💬 Your Turn! Do you have a favorite family fla...

Paging Dr. Allison Yim

Image
Flashback to freshman year in UC Davis I had to text you earlier to make sure the Facebook account that added me was really you -- and not identity theft. This photo was taken likely near the end of freshman year, maybe even June before we went our separate ways. I think that's your roommate Theresa's closet (and posters). Am I right? I still have the notes you would leave at the door (or with Tex) when I wasn't in. Those were few and far between because you were always busy studying. To be a teenager again... Allison & me. First floor J Building, Tercero.
