What is Pinoybuilt.com? Pinoybuilt is a website built on "off-the-shelf" Google technology. I initially conceived of this site prior to the birth of Facebook, back when Friendster was a thing. Then life and Facebook happened. In 2011, while on vacation with family in Hawaii, I found out that they didn't sell "Filipino Strength" t-shirts as they did in Honolulu. My buddy Tony referred me to the local Maui Built apparel. I thought of a Filipino Built brand along the same line. My tita said that it was too long and suggested Pinoy Built. I bought the domain pinoybuilt.com. I worked with a couple of graphic designers in creating a logo, apparel ideas, but nothing really took hold. Eventually, I turned this back to the original concept of a community site. Google Adsense Payment Received! July 22, 2024. My Google Adsense account reached the $100 threshold so I got an electronic deposit to my bank account from Google. Thank you, thank you, thank you for visiting the site. This was the second Google Adsense Payment that I have received. This second payment took three years I think to reach the $100 threshold -- much faster than the first payment. I'm less than $12 from hitting the $100 threshold on my Google Adsense account. Google sends me a check once I reach $100. The last (first and only) check I cashed from Google was for $120.10. (See image below). No, I don't blog "just for fun" although it is part of my self-therapy. If you know me, I'm into photography, and my photos mean the world to me. But sharing my photos on Facebook helps make Facebook money. I've decided I'd rather have my photos benefit me instead of Zuckerberg and Facebook shareholders. I had this idea in January 2003 to create a Fil-Am website, an ONLINE COMMUNITY , be the number one Filipino website in California (since most of the Filipino-Americans lived in California) and reap the ads revenues from that. Next week, a 33 year journey comes to an end as a new one begins. For several years, JF has been asking me to write for PinoyBuilt and yet, I hesitated. So this week I committed myself to start my new journey as I gently close a chapter in my life. I have decided to retire from the university life and career. Although I officially retire on 7/1/2023, I begin my permanent vacation on 5/1/2023. I realize that this journey happens just before I 'celebrate' my 40th reunion... yes, 40 years since I graduated from high school. Unbelievable. I cannot believe it has been 40 years, and now, 33 years since I began my career at the University. First as a student then an employee one fateful day 33 years ago. As I am preparing myself for this new chapter, I reflect on who I have become today. But for now, I ponder my next steps. I need to transition my mindset from a career to the retired life. Setup your Mail2blogger or email settings: After accepting the invite to the site and gaining author permissions, login to Blogger.com . Go to Settings . Go to Email .  Click on POST USING EMAIL. You get the screen similar to the one above. Enter your secret phrase.  You can use alphanumeric characters, as well as an 'underscore' and 'hyphen.' Choose PUBLISH EMAIL IMMEDIATELY so you don't have to login to the site.  (Just don't give out that address to anyone). If you have an iPhone like I do now, you can easily create a photo post by emailing your personal 'mail2blogger' address. Send the email from any of your mailboxes. You can easily share a YouTube video to Facebook or Blogger, but you need to follow the steps below to allow a preview photo on this site (thumbnail when posted on Facebook). Go to the YouTube video. Click SHARE underneath the title. Click EMBED. Click COPY, bottom right. Click X to back out. Click SHARE. Click BLOGGER. Click EDIT HTML. Delete the previous code " <iframe... /iframe>. " If there's a template code, click after the last "</h3>" and paste (CTRL-V).  This should paste the what you had copied in step #4. Click SAVE AS DRAFT.   Click EDIT POSTS. Click EDIT on first draft post.   Edit the title as needed. You can copy and paste the description of the YouTube video into the body of your post. Copy your body text into the SEARCH DESCRIPTION. Enter at least two labels: Your name (or username in Glenn's case ;-) an existing or new label under which your post falls. Click LINKS / CUSTOM PERMALINK and edit as needed....
